Chapter 12: A Mother's Legacy**

On Sunday morning, Julian took Ewan and Clara to a quiet hill overlooking the Hudson Valley. Underneath an ancient weeping willow tree stood a simple marble headstone inscribed with Elena Vance’s name.
Ewan placed a small bouquet of wild yellow daisies—his mother's favorite—against the polished stone.
"Hi, Mommy," the little boy whispered, touching the carved letters. "Dad brought me to see you. I have my own room now with a big window, and Grandfather bought me a puppy named Barnaby."
Julian knelt beside his son, his hand resting gently on the boy's shoulder. A cool summer breeze rustled the willow leaves, carrying a sense of profound closure.
"We finished your work, Elena," Julian said quietly in his heart. "The clinic is open. The children who need help are getting it for free. And our boy is safe."
Clara stood a few steps back, giving father and son their sacred moment. When Julian stood up, he looked back at Clara and extended his hand. Clara smiled, stepping forward and placing her hand in his.
Ewan looked up at both of them, his big hazel eyes bright with hope. "Can we come back next week, Dad?"
"Every week, buddy," Julian promised. "Whenever you want."
