Chapter 15 - The Final Resolution

Victor’s mocking smile faltered for a fraction of a second before he let out a sharp, nervous laugh. "You really think a few journalists can touch me, Arthur? I own half the municipal judges in this district!"

"Not this one," a calm, authoritative voice echoed from the shadows near the entrance.

Two federal marshals stepped out from behind a stack of shipping crates, their badges gleaming in the dim light as they raised their service weapons and pointed them directly at Victor Ross. At the same moment, the heavy steel doors at the far end of the warehouse slid open, revealing Officer Miller escorting Leo and Maya safely inside, followed by Sarah Chen carrying a live mobile broadcast unit.

Victor froze, realizing too late that his web of deceit had finally collapsed under its own weight. He reached instinctively toward his pocket, but one of the marshals closed the distance in a blur of motion, slamming Victor against the steel table and snapping heavy steel cuffs around his wrists.

"It's over, Victor," Arthur said softly, walking past the struggling prisoner to untie Elena from the chair.

Elena slumped into his arms the moment the ropes fell away, burying her face against his shoulder as quiet, relieved tears finally spilled over her lashes. Arthur held her tightly, closing his eyes as the nightmare of the past forty-eight hours finally receded into memory. Leo and Maya ran across the concrete floor, throwing their arms around both of their parents in a messy, tearful group hug that felt warmer and more secure than any corporate empire ever could.

As the federal marshals led Victor away toward the waiting squad cars outside, Arthur looked down at the white envelope still resting in his coat pocket—the one with the ominous deadline written across the front. He pulled it out, tore it into tiny pieces, and let the scraps flutter away into the harbor breeze. The Friday deadline had come and gone, but the Sterling family had emerged from the fire stronger, wiser, and entirely unbroken.
