Chapter 5: The Confrontation at the Manor

At noon, Julian Cross arrived at the convent gates in his armored black sedan, flanked by two private security guards and the Sterling family attorney, Harold Vance.
Julian strode into the convent’s vaulted library, his tailored suit immaculate, his expression a mask of strained patience.
""Vivienne, this circus ends now,"" Julian said, stepping toward her. ""The board is convening in two hours. Harold has prepared a non-disclosure settlement for the church. We will place the boy in an elite boarding school in England, fully funded. But you must come home.""
Vivienne sat before the tall leaded glass windows, the morning sunlight illuminating the dark green fabric of her dress. Beside her stood Leo and Sister Teresa.
""Home, Julian?"" Vivienne asked quietly. ""Which home? The one built on the profits of the Sierra del Sol lithium mine?""
Julian’s face tightened imperceptibly. ""I don't know what lies these nuns have fed you—""
""I have the seismic hazard waivers, Julian,"" Vivienne interrupted, her voice steady and clear. ""I have the signed refusal of evacuation from June 14th, eight years ago. And I have the consular receipts proving you paid the regional magistrate eighty thousand dollars to forge death certificates for twenty-four villagers, including Leo’s mother.""
Harold Vance, the attorney, stepped back, his face draining of color. ""Julian... you told me those records were destroyed.""
""Shut up, Harold,"" Julian snapped, dropping his charming facade entirely. His eyes burned with venom as he glared at Vivienne. ""You think you're a saint, Vivienne? You were a naive girl playing doctor in the mud! Your father and I built an empire that gave you that wheelchair, that funded your surgeries, that kept you in silk! You owe your entire existence to the decisions I made!""
""I owe you nothing, Julian,"" Vivienne said, her voice ringing off the stone walls with majestic finality. ""Except the justice you stole from this child.""
She nodded toward the library doors.
The heavy oak doors swung open. Stepping inside was Chief Inspector Moreau of the Financial and Human Rights Division of the Federal Police, accompanied by four uniformed officers.
""Julian Cross,"" Moreau announced, holding up a federal warrant. ""You are under arrest for corporate manslaughter, evidence tampering, and human rights violations in the Sierra del Sol district.""
As the handcuffs clicked around Julian’s wrists, he lunged toward Vivienne, his voice breaking into a desperate snarl. ""You're destroying your own family, Vivienne! You’ll be left with nothing!""
May you like
""I already have everything I need,"" Vivienne said softly, watching him being led away into the light.
