Chapter 12 - The Desperate Pounce

The metallic click of the pistol hammer pulling back sounded deafening in the confined corridor. Julian didn't flinch. Instead, he forced his breathing to slow down, remembering every boxing lesson his father had taught him decades ago when they were boys.
"You always were a coward, Marcus," Julian said softly, taking a deliberate half-step forward into the glaring beam of the flashlight. "You couldn't beat father honestly, so you stole his company. You couldn't beat me in business, so you tried to destroy my family."
Marcus’s eyes flashed with sudden, uncontrollable rage. The calm, arrogant facade cracked, revealing the desperate, insecure boy beneath the tailored suit. "Shut up! You don't know anything about what I sacrificed for this family!"
"Now, Julian!" a familiar voice roared from the dark shadows behind Marcus.
Cole lunged out from an intersecting utility alcove like a striking panther, tackling Marcus hard from the side. The heavy pistol flew from Marcus’s hand, clattering loudly against the concrete floor and sliding away into the darkness.
Marcus screamed in fury as he and Cole crashed into the metal housing of the transformer box, sending a shower of orange sparks cascading across the floor. Julian didn't hesitate; he sprinted forward, diving into the scuffle and pinning Marcus’s right arm against the damp ground with all his weight.
"I've got him!" Julian panted, pressing his knee into Marcus’s shoulder blade while Cole secured the older brother's wrists behind his back with industrial zip-ties.
Marcus writhed beneath them, spitting blood and dirt onto the floor. "You're ruining everything! You don't understand what's coming!"
"It's over, Marcus," Cole said, breathing heavily as he hauled the defeated man to his feet. "The safehouse network is secure, and local authorities intercepted your offshore transfer five minutes ago. Your empire is gone."

Julian stood up slowly, wiping dirt from his tuxedo jacket. His phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, seeing an incoming call from Sarah. He swiped to answer, turning on speakerphone so Cole and Marcus could both hear.
