Chapter 15: The Master Builder

The celebration lasted late into the night. When the last guests had departed, Mateo and Clara walked out onto the grand stone terrace overlooking the shimmering harbor.

Below them, the lights of the Haven district sparkled like a constellation of stars reflected on the calm ocean water. The hospital was active, healing the sick; the community apartments were warm and filled with resting families; the shipyard was alive with productive, honorable labor.

Clara reached out and took Mateo's hand, intertwining her fingers with his.

"Look at what you created," she whispered, her eyes shining in the moonlight.

"We created it together," Mateo replied, turning to face her. "And the best part is... it will outlive both of us. Long after our names are forgotten, these roofs will keep families dry, and these walls will keep children safe."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, simple ring—not forged from expensive platinum or coated in ostentatious diamonds, but crafted from pure, polished rose gold and inlaid with a tiny fragment of the original foundation stone of Villa Belle Reve.

Mateo looked into Clara’s eyes with unwavering devotion. "Clara, will you build the rest of this life with me?"

Tears of joy spilled over Clara’s cheeks as she smiled, her answer rising effortlessly from her heart: "Yes, Mateo. Every single day."

As Mateo slipped the ring onto her finger, a cool ocean breeze swept up from the cliffs, carrying with it the quiet, eternal song of the sea—a reminder that while wealth and power fade like mist, the monuments built on love, justice, and human dignity will stand forever.
