Chapter 15

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the evening sky in shades of amber, violet, and deep rose. Inside the city apartment, the kitchen was alive with the warm, comforting sounds of evening preparations. Arthur stood at the stove, stirring a pot of homemade soup while soft acoustic music played from a countertop speaker.

Outside, the city lights flickered to life, casting a gentle glow through the large windows. Lily’s breathing slowed as exhaustion finally overtook her, her head resting comfortably against his shoulder.
