Chapter 6 - The Emergency Boardroom Ambush

Elena stared at the breaking news headline flashing across her phone screen in bold, crimson letters: VANCE ENTERPRISES SHARES HALTED AMID RUMORS OF FRAUDULENT ASSET DRAINAGE.
Beneath the headline was a live feed of the corporate headquarters downtown, where a massive horde of journalists and television cameras had already swarmed the entrance. Microphones were shoved into the faces of frantic board members as they rushed past security doors. The panic had spread faster than wildfire. Julian hadn't just lost his personal accounts; his desperate attempt to cover up the missing R&D funds had triggered an automated Securities and Exchange Commission audit.
"They're eating their own," Viktor's voice came through the speakerphone as he called back instantly. "Julian just tried to pin the missing architectural blueprints on his chief operating officer to save his own skin, and the COO just walked out of the building with a folder full of email trails implicating Julian directly."
"Desperation is an ugly color on him," Elena remarked, walking over to her dressing table where the newly delivered white evening gown rested inside a garment bag.
"The board has called an emergency executive meeting for noon today at the main office," Viktor continued, his tone turning serious. "They're voting to strip Julian of his CEO title immediately, and they need a majority shareholder to sign off on the receivership. That means you, Elena."
Elena paused, her hand hovering over the delicate silk of the gown. "If I sign the receivership over to the state, the company goes into liquidation, and thousands of innocent employees lose their jobs. That was never my intention."
"What's your alternative?" Viktor asked. "If you don't take control, Marcus Thorne will swoop in and buy the liquidated assets for pennies on the dollar by tomorrow morning."
"Then I'll walk into that boardroom myself," Elena said quietly.
She unzipped the garment bag, revealing a breathtaking, backless white silk evening gown that clung to her elegant frame with absolute perfection. It was a deliberate, psychological warfare choice—wearing the color of a bride to a corporate execution where she would bury her ex-husband's career. She dressed with meticulous care, fastening the diamond heirloom necklace around her throat and sliding her feet into a pair of matching white stiletto heels.
By 11:45 AM, her black luxury car pulled up directly in front of the Vance Enterprises glass monolith. The media mob surged forward the moment the rear door opened, flashing cameras blinding her in a flurry of white light. Elena stepped out with absolute poise, her silver rolling suitcase replaced by a sleek leather portfolio. She ignored the shouting reporters, walking through the revolving glass doors with the unbothered grace of a queen returning to her throne.
As she stepped out of the private executive elevator on the top floor, the heavy oak doors of the boardroom swung open. Julian stood at the head of the mahogany table, sweating profusely, screaming at the remaining board members.
He stopped dead in his tracks the moment he saw Elena glide into the room, her white gown sweeping effortlessly across the plush carpet.
"You..." Julian choked out, his eyes bulging with sheer terror. "What are you doing here?"
May you like
Elena walked right past him, sat down in the absolute center seat of the board table, and placed her portfolio down with a sharp thud.
