Chapter 11: The Confession of Dr. Collins**

The state subpoenaed Dr. Arthur Collins, the family physician who had treated Elena for six years. Under the threat of federal conspiracy charges, the aging doctor broke down during a closed-door deposition.

Collins admitted that Mark had approached him years prior, claiming Elena suffered from severe, treatment-resistant bipolar disorder with paranoid delusions. Mark had convinced the doctor to prescribe off-label sedatives, which Mark then covertly supplemented with black-market compounds.

"He made it sound like an act of mercy," Collins wept, his career ruined. "He said she was suicidal and that public awareness would destroy the boy's life."

"You violated every oath you took," Diaz said across the table. "You signed prescriptions without running basic blood panels because Mark Mercer paid off your son’s medical school debt."
