Chapter 8 - Darkness and Deception

The emergency red backup lights flickered on, casting a bloody, crimson glow across the panicked faces in the room. In the sudden dimness, Evelyn lunged toward the open doorway, desperate to escape before Arthur could demand answers. Clara moved faster, kicking the heavy steel chair into Evelyn’s path and sending her crashing hard against the wall. Arthur stared at his hands, realizing that the man he thought he knew—and the woman he had trusted with his life—were part of something monstrous. Leo began to convulse violently, the metallic wires in his arm sparking with blue electrical current. Clara pressed her fingers against the boy’s neck, checking his pulse while shouting instructions at the frozen father. She revealed that Leo was never Arthur's biological son, but rather a classified prototype engineered in an underground facility. Arthur backed away in horror, denying every word until Evelyn let out a chilling, hysterical laugh from the floor.
