Chapter 4 - Cold Confrontation
Arthur’s face flushed with anger as he stepped closer to Clara, his jaw clenching tightly in warning. He demanded to see her medical credentials, suspecting she might be a reporter or someone connected to an ongoing malpractice suit. Evelyn stepped forward alongside Arthur, her polite facade slipping to reveal a sharp, defensive edge in her posture. She accused Clara of trespassing and threatened to call hospital security immediately to have her forcefully removed. Clara didn't blink, maintaining eye contact with Arthur while slowly withdrawing a pair of heavy-duty medical trauma shears from her bag. The metallic glint of the steel shears caught the dim fluorescent light, sending a shiver through the entire room. Clara stated quietly that she used to be a pediatric trauma nurse before the hospital board silenced her department permanently. Leo let out a piercing shriek as a drop of dark crimson fluid slowly began to seep through the white plaster near his wrist.
