Chapter 6: Awakening

When Arthur returned to the ICU, the sun was beginning to set, casting deep orange and purple hues across the city skyline through the hospital window.
Lily was asleep in the armchair, wrapped in a warm fleece blanket.
Arthur sat quietly by Noah's bedside, taking his hand once more. The room was peaceful, a stark contrast to the chaotic boardroom he had just left behind.
A faint flutter of eyelids caught Arthur's attention.
Noah shifted slightly on the pillow, a small groan escaping his lips. His brown lashes fluttered open, revealing big, hopeful hazel eyes—the exact same eyes Clara had possessed.
Arthur stood up instantly, leaning over the bed. "Noah? Can you hear me, son?"
Noah blinked against the dim light, his eyes taking a moment to focus. He looked at the white walls, the monitors, and finally at the tall man standing beside him.
His gaze moved from Arthur's face down to the faded photograph lying on the bedside table.
"Dad?" Noah’s voice was barely a whisper, rough from the breathing tube that had been removed earlier.
The word hit Arthur like an electric shock, sending a wave of warmth through his entire chest. Tears welled up in his eyes once more, but this time, they were born of pure, unadulterated relief.
"I'm here, Noah," Arthur said, his voice cracking with emotion as he gently wrapped his hands around his son's small fingers. "I'm right here. I'm never leaving you again."

Noah’s pale lips curled into a tiny, fragile smile. "I found you."
"No, Noah," Arthur whispered, kissing the boy's forehead gently. "You saved me."
