Chapter 1: The Puddle on the Marble

The heavy silence of the white foyer shattered the moment the water hit the pristine floor. Valenia stood tall, her champagne-colored satin dress catching the brilliant light of the grand chandelier overhead. Her diamond necklace glittered against her throat as she tilted the crystal pitcher, letting the stream pool around the knees of the kneeling maid. The young woman wore a standard uniform of a black dress and white apron, her wet hair clinging to her pale cheeks. Bright yellow rubber gloves covered her hands, stark against the dark fabric.
"Know your place, housemaid," Valenia said sharply, her voice cutting through the cavernous space with icy precision.
Before the echoes could fade, the double glass doors swung open with a muffled click. Lorenzo strode inside, his tall frame cutting a striking figure in his tailored black suit and dark shirt. Tattoos coiled down his neck and over his hands, dark ink against pale skin. He stopped, his stern gaze sweeping across the scene, taking in Valenia’s cold posture and the trembling figure on the floor.
"What is happening here?" Lorenzo demanded, his deep voice carrying an unmistakable weight of authority.
The maid looked up, tears spilling over her lashes. With a gloved hand, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a heavy, ornate antique metal key. Water dripped from its intricate brass teeth as she held it toward him, her breath hitching.
"Lorenzo... the chapel vault," she choked out, her voice breaking through her tears. "She lied about everything."
Valenia gasped, her eyes widening in sudden terror, stepping back as Lorenzo strode forward. He knelt instantly, ignoring the wet marble, and took the antique key from the maid's trembling grasp. He stared at the cold metal, his jaw clenching.
"Lorenzo, don't listen to her, she's crazy!" Valenia shrieked, panic cracking her polished veneer.

Standing abruptly, Lorenzo pointed a steady finger toward the entrance. "Get out of my house, Valenia." He dropped back down to one knee, taking the maid's gloved hand in his own, his expression softening with intense emotion. "My daughter... is she safe?"
The maid squeezed his hand, her tears finally slowing as determination replaced fear. "I won't let anyone touch you or her again."
