Armed with the security footage and Lily’s crucial testimony, Clara knew she needed expert financial insights. Julian was not merely an arrogant socialite; he was deep in financial trouble. But to prove it, she needed access to the Sterling family enterprise records—records guarded by layers of corporate attorneys.
Late that afternoon, Clara met with Arthur Pendelton, a retired forensic accountant who had served her late father years ago. They sat in a quiet corner of a dimly lit downtown library, surrounded by stacks of financial ledgers Arthur had managed to pull through public record filings and corporate registry cross-references.
“Look here, Clara,” Arthur said, sliding a sheet of paper with dense columns of numbers across the wooden table. “Julian has been managing the Sterling Charitable Trust for the past three years. On paper, millions of dollars are being funneled into overseas art restoration projects.”
“And in reality?” Clara asked, scanning the numbers.
“In reality, those funds are bouncing through shell corporations registered in the Cayman Islands before landing directly in offshore accounts managed by a high-stakes gambling syndicate known as Vance Capital,” Arthur explained, his finger tracing a line on the paper. “Julian owes them over four million dollars. He’s been bleeding the family trust dry to cover his debts.”

By blaming your daughter, he framed her as a thief, created chaos, and gave himself an excuse for why the ring was missing.”
Clara clasped her hands together tightly. The sheer cruelty of framing an innocent eight-year-old child to save himself from his own criminal foolishness made her blood boil. “He won’t get away with this, Arthur. Not anymore.”
