Chapter 11: Hands That Heal

What happened next was something Jax never expected. Early the following morning, as the storm cleared, a procession of trucks pulled into the gravel lane. Clara had rallied the town. Mechanics from the garage, the local electrician, neighbors from down the road, and even the local hardware store owner arrived with tools, wood, and electrical supplies.

""You didn't think you were going to do this alone, did you, Jax?"" Clara said with a warm smile, handing him a thermos of hot coffee. Throughout the day, the property became a hive of activity. Men and women worked side-by-side, repairing the shed roof, rewiring the trailer's electrical box, and clearing storm debris from the yard. Leo helped by carrying light wooden planks and handing tools to the workers, feeling a sense of belonging he had never experienced before.

By nightfall, the trailer wasn't just restored—it was better than ever. The wiring was completely brand new, the shed was structurally reinforced, and the yard was clean and secure. Jax stood on the porch, watching his neighbors pack up their trucks. He tried to thank them, but his voice hitched with emotion. The town hadn't just helped repair a house; they had declared that Jax and Leo belonged to their community.
