By 9:00 AM, the executive boardroom on the 50th floor of Williams Tower was packed with directors, institutional investors, and legal counsel. Julian Williams sat at the head of the conference table in a custom Italian suit, leaning casually back in his chair while his mother, Evelyn, sipped Earl Grey tea from fine bone china.
"Due to Victor’s erratic behavior last night," Julian declared to the room, gesturing to a stack of medical petitions, "we are moving to declare him legally incapacitated to manage company assets. As Vice Chairman, I will assume full executive control."
The heavy double doors swung open with a resounding bang.
Victor strode into the room, flanked by two armed federal marshals and Special Agent Marcus Cole of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Behind them walked Arthur Vance, wheeling a cart stacked high with blue audit binders.
"Before you call the vote, Julian, let’s review the morning agenda," Victor said calmly, taking a seat at the foot of the table.
Julian sprang to his feet, adjusting his collar. "Victor! You have no authority here! Security, escort this man out!"
"Sit down, Julian," Agent Cole commanded, flashing his badge. "Pursuant to Title 18 of the United States Code, we are executing a federal search warrant for all corporate servers, financial ledgers, and offshore routing records tied to Apex Heritage Holdings."
Evelyn’s teacup clattered against its saucer, spilling dark liquid over the polished mahogany. "What is the meaning of this nonsense? This is a private family firm!"
"Apex Heritage isn't a firm," Victor said coldly, sliding a folder toward the board members. "It’s a money-laundering conduit used to embezzle sixty million dollars from the family philanthropic trust to settle Julian’s illegal sports betting markers in Macau. And my mother signed every single authorization."
