Chapter 13: The True Heiress**

On Annie’s fifth birthday, Victor and Clara organized a small, intimate party on the lawn of the lake house. There were no black-tie gowns, no flashing media photographers, and no three-tiered pretentious wedding cakes. Instead, there was homemade strawberry shortcake, colorful paper banners, and laughter that filled the afternoon air.

Arthur Vance arrived carrying a small, ribbon-wrapped wooden box. He sat down at the picnic table with Victor and Clara while Annie ran through the sprinkler with her puppy.

"What is this, Arthur?" Victor asked.

Arthur opened the box, revealing a simple silver locket containing a photograph of Victor’s late father, along with the original deed to the lakeside property, legally transferred into Annie’s name.

"Your father asked me to hold this until the day the Williams family finally understood the meaning of true wealth," Arthur said with a tearful smile. "It has found its rightful owner."

Victor picked up the locket, calling Annie over. The little girl ran over, dripping wet and giggling, wrapping her arms around Victor’s neck.

"What's this, Daddy?" she asked, looking at the shiny silver locket.

"This belonged to your grandfather," Victor said, fastening the delicate chain around her neck. "He was a kind man who believed that family means protecting the people you love, no matter what."

Annie beamed, clutching the locket in her small hand. "Like how you protected me and Mommy?"

"Exactly like that, baby," Victor said, kissing her forehead.
