Chapter 12: The Healer's Touch

In the weeks following Arthur’s arrest, the corporate empire underwent a seismic restructuring. Arthur and Victoria both pleaded guilty under overwhelming evidence, receiving multi-decade federal prison sentences without the possibility of parole. The dirty money was excised, and the company was refocused on ethical, sustainable innovation.

Yet, despite the victory in court, the hardest work was taking place within the quiet walls of the Sterling Estate.

Leo still woke up in the middle of the night, terrified of shadows and sudden sounds. But whenever panic struck, Clara was there with a warm cup of cocoa, a soothing song, and endless patience. Julian watched as Clara’s gentle presence brought light back into the boy’s fractured world.

One evening, Julian found Clara sitting on the veranda, looking out over the moonlit gardens.

"You've barely taken any time for yourself, Clara," Julian said, offering her a seat. "I offered you an executive stipend and a private home in the Hamptons. Why do you insist on staying here?"

Clara looked at him with warm, honest eyes. "Money is nice, Julian. But that little boy doesn't need another trust fund. He needs people who love him for who he is, not for the shares he holds. My mother taught me that a home isn't made of gold; it's made of loyalty."

Julian sat beside her, feeling a profound peace that he hadn't experienced in years. In a world full of artificial socialites and greedy powerbrokers, Clara was pure gold.

"I don't think Leo is the only one who needs you, Clara," Julian whispered sincerely.

Clara smiled softly, her hand gently brushing against his. "Then I'm not going anywhere."
