Chapter 3

The stark reality of Elena’s words hung heavily in the charged air of the bridal suite. Midnight. That meant they had less than six hours before the final, irreversible property transfer legally locked Julian out of his ancestral home forever. Julian gripped the smartphone tightly, his knuckles turning stark white as his mind raced to find a legal countermeasure. He looked down at Lily, who was still holding tightly to his hand, her small frame no longer shaking with fear, but radiating a surprising, precocious resolve that mirrored his own determination.
"You think you have already won, Elena," Julian said, his voice regaining its steady, executive authority. "But you forgot one crucial detail."
Elena raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over the bodice of her wedding dress with a look of supreme arrogance. She stepped away from the ornate mirror, reclaiming her physical space with deliberate slowness.
"And what brilliant detail would that be, Julian? My legal team is ironclad. Every signature is notarized, every loophole secured by professionals who do not lose," Elena mocked, checking her diamond-encrusted wristwatch with theatrical indifference.
"My father’s original trust documents require a dual-signature biometric authorization from both myself and an independent executor in the event of any major asset relocation," Julian replied calmly, a faint, confident smile touching the corners of his mouth. "An executor you have never met, and whose identity you do not possess."
The mocking smirk vanished instantly from Elena’s face. Her eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as she realized the monumental oversight in her otherwise meticulous plan. She took a sharp step forward, her white dress rustling loudly against the polished hardwood floor.
"You are bluffing," Elena hissed, though a subtle note of panic laced her words. "There is no secondary executor. I read through every single file in your study cabinet months ago."
"My father anticipated opportunists, Elena," Julian said smoothly, turning his back on her as he scooped Lily up into his arms once more. "He just didn't expect one to wear white and walk down his family aisle."
Julian motioned for the stunned bridesmaids to step aside, guiding Lily out of the hostile environment of the bridal suite without looking back once. Elena stood frozen in the center of the room, her chest heaving with furious breaths as the full scope of her impending failure began to dawn on her. The pristine white gown suddenly felt like a straitjacket restricting her furious movements.
Julian marched down the grand hallway of the country club, his phone buzzing violently in his pocket with an automated security alert from the estate. He pulled the device out while walking, his heart skipping a beat as he saw a new notification appear on the screen. It was not a text message this time, but a live security camera feed showing an unknown vehicle parked directly in front of the main gates of his family mansion.
Lily peered over Julian’s shoulder, her sharp blue eyes widening as she pointed a small finger at the screen.

"Daddy, that is the same car that was parked outside our house yesterday," Lily whispered urgently.
Julian stopped dead in his tracks in the middle of the crowded corridor, his blood freezing as he watched the live video stream show masked figures stepping out of the unidentified vehicle, approaching the front entrance of his home hours ahead of the midnight deadline.
