Chapter 11 - The Sealed Cabin

Inside the luxurious leather-lined cabin of the Gulfstream jet, the muffled sounds of shouting and gunfire from the tarmac faded into a dull, rhythmic thrum as the heavy bulkhead door sealed shut. Arthur Vance stumbled down the narrow aisle, gripping the armrests of the plush seats to steady himself as the jet’s turbine engines spooled up with a deafening roar, beginning to taxi down the runway.
He reached the front cockpit door and slammed his fist against the reinforced glass.
"Open this door immediately! Take off now, heading southwest toward international waters!" Arthur screamed, his aristocratic composure entirely shattered.
The co-pilot’s window slid open just an inch, and the pilot’s voice came through, strained and hesitant.
"Mr. Vance, we have state police cruisers blocking the main taxiway. Air traffic control has grounded all departures under federal emergency orders. We can't take off."
"I don't care about air traffic control!" Arthur roared, grabbing a heavy brass fire extinguisher from the bulkhead wall and raising it high above his head. "Fly this plane right through the barricade, or I'll throw you both out at ten thousand feet!"
Before Arthur could smash the heavy brass cylinder against the reinforced cockpit door, a soft, pitiful whimper echoed from the rear lounge area of the jet.
Arthur froze, lowering the fire extinguisher slowly. He turned around, his chest heaving as he stared down the dim, carpeted aisle toward the private stateroom at the back of the aircraft.
Sitting right in the middle of the aisle, perfectly framed by the amber cabin lights, was the small brown puppy. It wasn't whimpering out of fear; it was staring directly at Arthur with an unsettling, piercing intensity. And right behind the puppy stood little Leo.
The toddler had climbed down from the forward bench where Federal Marshal Thomas Vance had initially placed him before the firefight outside. Leo’s torn shirt was soaked through, his messy light brown hair matted to his forehead, but his big emotional eyes held no tears now—only a deep, haunting recognition.
Arthur’s breath hitched in his throat. He took a hesitant step backward, dropping the heavy fire extinguisher onto the carpet with a dull thud.
"David?" Arthur whispered, his voice cracking as the ghost of his dead brother seemed to stare back at him through the toddler's face. "No... that's impossible. You're dead. I saw the car burn."
Leo didn't speak. He simply took one slow step forward, lifting his small right hand to reveal the peculiar crescent-shaped birthmark on his palm—the exact genetic marker that proved he was the true legal owner of the entire Vance biomedical empire.
Suddenly, the front cabin door was blown inward with an explosive bang, and Federal Marshal Thomas Vance stepped into the aisle, his service weapon drawn and aimed directly at Arthur’s chest.

"End of the flight, Arthur," Thomas said coldly. "Put your hands behind your back."
