Chapter 1: The Shattering of Illusions

The echo of shattering glass still hung in the air, a violent contrast to the sterile, quiet opulence the boutique had maintained just seconds before. The sleek black sedan sat in the lobby, its headlights illuminating the dust and ruin. Arthur’s voice, a low, dangerous rumble, cut through the shock. “Who touched my daughter?”
Victoria, the store manager in the silver dress, took a trembling step back. The arrogant smirk that had lived on her face was completely gone, replaced by a pale, breathless terror. The wealthy onlookers, who had just been laughing at the girl on the floor, now backed away, their eyes wide. Arthur didn’t look at the ruined merchandise or the millions of dollars in damages he had just caused. He only looked at Maya. He gathered her into his arms, his expensive suit immediately dusting with debris. “Are you hurt?” he whispered. Maya shook her head, tears finally spilling over as she clutched the broken silver chain in her hand.
