Two weeks later, the grand ballroom of the downtown hotel looked entirely different under the soft, romantic glow of midday autumn sunlight streaming through unobstructed floor-to-ceiling windows. There were no news crews, no federal agents, and no corporate spies lurking in the shadows. There were only fifty close family members and trusted friends gathered around a newly arranged reception space, celebrating an interrupted love story finally reaching its rightful conclusion.
At the center of the dais stood a brand-new multi-tier white wedding cake, immaculate, elegantly decorated with cascading white roses, resting firmly on its silver stand.
Julian stood beside the table, dressed once more in his custom-tailored black tuxedo and silk bow tie. His dark hair was slicked back neatly, and his expression was relaxed, radiating quiet confidence. Opposite him stood Clara, breathtaking in a second, equally stunning white lace gown, wearing her silver tiara with quiet grace.
Between them, holding a small silver plate containing the very first slice of the pristine dessert, stood little Lily. Her red sleeveless dress matched the vibrant ribbon woven into her blonde hair as she looked up at the newlywed couple with big, hopeful eyes.
