Chapter 11 - The Trap Closes

Elena backed away from the table, her hands rising defensively as the federal agents stepped into the VIP lounge, blocking the only exit.

"Elena Vance," the lead agent announced, his voice echoing in the quiet room. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit international wire fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice."

Elena didn't scream. She didn't cry. She simply turned her head slowly to look at Maya, who stood motionless beside the window, her face illuminated by the blue light of the tablet in her hands.

"You called them," Elena whispered, her voice trembling with pure venom. "You set this up for us too."

"I told you, Elena," Maya said without looking at her, watching the security guards secure the cuffs around Elena's wrists. "Accountability doesn't pick and choose its targets. You wanted Marcus destroyed. You wanted David to have his revenge. But justice doesn't belong to people who build their lives on deceit."

The agents led Elena past the glass doors, her trench coat rustling sharply as she cast one final, murderous glare over her shoulder. The door clicked shut, leaving Maya alone in the quiet luxury of the terminal lounge.

Maya looked down at the tablet in her hand. The transfer was complete. The fifteen million dollars was safely tucked inside an irrevocable, untraceable charitable trust registered in her late brother's name—a foundation dedicated to recovering stolen corporate assets and returning them to victims of white-collar crime. She hadn't kept a single dime for herself.

She pressed a button on the screen, locking the tablet permanently before dropping it onto the marble table. Then, she picked up her designer handbag, smoothed down the front of her brown blazer, and walked out toward the private tarmac where the Gulfstream waited in the rain.

Back at the federal precinct, Marcus sat alone in the cold interrogation room. The metal door opened quietly, and Special Agent Thomas walked in, holding a single printed document. He didn't sit down. He tossed the paper onto the table in front of Marcus.

Marcus looked down at the page. It was an asset forfeiture report, detailing the complete and permanent relocation of the fifteen million dollars into the newly established foundation bearing his late brother-in-law's name.

"Your wife just cleaned out every single account, Vance," Thomas said quietly, leaning against the edge of the table. "Every shell company, every offshore holding, every hidden asset you spent a decade accumulating—all gone. Transferred to a philanthropic trust forty seconds before she walked out of the airport."

Marcus didn't speak. He stared at the signature line on the document, recognizing Maya's precise, flawless handwriting. A slow, heavy sigh escaped his lips, and for the first time in ten years, the tension left his shoulders.

"She didn't steal the money," Marcus whispered, staring at the paper. "She simply closed the loop."

"Well, the loop is going to cost you twenty years in a federal penitentiary," Thomas warned, pulling out his keys. "Stand up, Mr. Vance."
