Chapter 1: The Shattered Silence

The modern luxury living room smelled faintly of expensive perfume, ozone, and fresh blood. Elena stood frozen in her beige silk shirt, her breath hitching in her throat as Clara groaned against the carpet. Clara’s white robe was torn at the shoulder, stained with a dark, spreading crimson circle from a jagged shard of safety glass that had pierced her side during the violent descent. The glass coffee table, once a masterpiece of minimalist design, was now a glittering graveyard of sharp fragments scattered across the polished walnut floor.

Elena’s heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. Her mind raced, desperate to stitch together the sequence of events that had turned an evening of quiet confrontation into an absolute disaster. Only moments ago, harsh words had escalated into a physical struggle near the edge of the rug. Clara had lunged, losing her footing, and the fragile table had offered no resistance.

""Stop!"" Elena had cried out, her voice cracking with a mixture of terror and disbelief, but the warning had come a fraction of too late.

Now, Clara lay gasping, her pale fingers trembling as she pressed them against her bleeding chest, her eyes wide with a mixture of agony and betrayal. The silence that followed the crash was deafening, broken only by the ragged sound of Clara’s breathing and the distant hum of the estate’s climate control system.

Heavy footsteps echoed from the grand hallway, vibrating through the floorboards. The double doors swung open with a sharp click. Marcus strode into the room, impeccably dressed in a black tuxedo, his silk bow tie slightly askew. He stopped dead in his tracks. His dark eyes darted from Elena’s panicked expression to Clara’s broken form on the floor. For a terrifying second, time seemed to suspend itself entirely. Marcus’s face drained of color, his jaw tightening into a hard, unforgiving line of profound shock and rising anger.

""What happened here?"" Marcus demanded, his voice dangerously low, stripped of all warmth.

Elena stepped back, her ring catching the overhead light as she raised a trembling hand to point frantically at Clara. ""She shouldn't have stayed, Marcus! She attacked me!"" Elena’s voice was high, laced with genuine panic.

Before Marcus could answer, a subtle mechanical hum drew their attention upward. Mounted high on the architectural ceiling, the security camera’s red LED light blinked rhythmically, staring down like a mechanical eye. It slowly rotated on its motorized gimbal, faithfully recording every shattered piece of glass, every drop of blood, and every unspoken lie. Marcus looked up, his expression shifting from shock to pure fury as he realized the truth was already locked away in the digital archives.

""The camera saw everything,"" Marcus whispered, the words hanging heavily in the tense air.
