Turtle Cove

At dawn, the island was wrapped in shades of lavender and gold.
Leo drove the small electric cart along a narrow dirt path flanked by wild hibiscus and coconut palms. The air smelled of salt and wild jasmine. When the path opened up, Sarah gasped.
The cove was a perfect crescent of powdery white sand, sheltered from the open ocean by a natural barrier reef. The water was as clear as glass, undisturbed by human presence.
Maya jumped down from the cart, clapping her hands. "Mommy, look! The water has no walls!"
For the first time in eighteen months, Sarah watched her daughter run without fear of pulling an IV line or stumbling over medical equipment. Maya ran down to the water’s edge, splashing the gentle foam with her bare feet, her laughter echoing freely across the empty bay.
Leo pulled a pair of snorkeling goggles from a canvas bag. "The tide is coming in. Watch the shallow pool near those flat rocks."
Sarah took Maya’s hand and walked out into the warm, knee-deep water. Within minutes, two massive green sea turtles glided effortlessly beneath the surface, their shells patterned like ancient stained glass.

Maya knelt down, her face inches from the water, completely spellbound. "They’re flying, Mommy! Under the water, they’re flying!"
Sarah stood beside her, tears blurring her vision. In that quiet cove, far from the polished marble and petty judgments of the main resort, she felt a profound sense of peace. The world was vast, wild, and indifferent to human pride, yet capable of offering moments of breathtaking grace.
