Chapter 1: The Shattered Mirror and the Broken Vow

The grand opulent hallway of the Sterling estate echoed with the terrifying sound of splintering glass. The woman in the red dress, twenty-eight-year-old Clara Sterling, stood over her kneeling victim with an aggressive and furious expression. Her stunning bright red backless dress with its high slit caught the harsh glare of the crystal chandeliers, reflecting violently against the marble floors. Delilah, a twenty-seven-year-old pregnant maid with light brown hair tied neatly back, pressed her hands against her swollen belly. She wore a light blue and white maid uniform marked with her name tag. Delilah was crying and terrified, trapped against the massive ornate gold mirror that now lay in jagged ruins around her.

“This is what happens when servants forget their place!” Clara snarled, her voice sharp enough to slice through the heavy silence of the estate.

Delilah clutched her abdomen, weeping in pain as a dark stain began to seep through the fabric of her uniform near the broken frame. “My baby, please!” she sobbed, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps.

From the shadows of the expansive hallway, a tall, commanding figure stepped forward. Julian Vance, a thirty-five-year-old corporate executive with slicked-back dark hair and a sharp black suit over a crisp white dress shirt, moved with deliberate speed. His presence was immediately stern and authoritative. “Let her go,” Julian commanded, his voice deep and unyielding.

Clara whipped her head around fiercely, her long blonde wavy hair catching the light as she glared back at Julian with an intensely offended look. “Who are you to interrupt me?” she demanded, stepping away from the injured maid.

Julian ignored her sharp retort, dropping immediately to his knees beside Delilah. He placed his hands firmly on her trembling shoulders, his eyes locking onto hers to keep her conscious. “Sit. Slowly. Don’t stand. Delilah,” he instructed, his tone steady and reassuring amidst the chaos.

Without breaking his gaze, Julian rose to his full height. He turned to address Clara and the small cluster of terrified staff watching from a distance, his voice cutting through the air with absolute authority. “Call medical. Keep. Preserve the footage,” he ordered, taking immediate control of a household that had just descended into cruelty and lawlessness.
