Chapter 11: Community and Acceptance
Word of Clara's miraculous return soon spread through their small town. Friends, neighbors, and old acquaintances brought food, flowers, and warm wishes to their home.
While the support was comforting, it was also overwhelming for Clara, who still struggled with social fatigue. One afternoon, Jax’s sister, Sarah, came over to help around the house.
""I can't believe you're really here, Clara,"" Sarah said, holding Clara’s hands in the kitchen. ""Jax never gave up hope. He kept your things in the house just as you left them.""
""I felt like a ghost at first, Sarah,"" Clara confessed softly. ""Like I was intruding on a life that moved on without me.""
""You were never an intruder, Clara. You were the missing piece,"" Sarah said gently. ""Look out the window.""
Clara turned to look at the backyard. Jax and Arthur were putting the finishing touches on the wooden birdhouse, while Lily and Leo were painting the sides with bright watercolors.
