Chapter 12

Leo, startled by the sudden screaming, let out a sharp cry from the west wing bedroom, running down the hallway before Elena could intercept him. The baby began to wail loudly in the bassinet near the window. The serene sanctuary was instantly shattered by the violent intrusion of the past.
Elena stepped instinctively in front of the hallway leading to the children’s rooms, her posture rigid, her hands trembling slightly, but her eyes locked onto Arthur with a cold, protective fury. “Stay away from them, Arthur. You are finished here.”
Arthur raised the heavy brass candlestick, taking another staggering step forward, spittle flying from his lips. “You worthless ungrateful bitch! I made you! Without me, you’re nothing!”
Before Arthur could take another step, the heavy mahogany door of the private study clicked open. Julian stepped out into the living area. He wasn't running, nor was he shouting. His movements were terrifyingly calm, deliberate, and absolute. He wore his dark suit jacket, the white shirt unbuttoned at the collar, revealing the heavy silver chain resting against his chest. He closed the distance between himself and Arthur with three long, silent strides.
Arthur swung the brass candlestick wildly toward Julian’s head.
Julian didn't flinch. With blinding speed, he caught Arthur’s wrist mid-swing, twisting it sharply upward with effortless leverage. A sharp crack echoed through the penthouse as Arthur cried out in pain, dropping the candlestick onto the plush rug. Julian swept his leg behind Arthur’s knees, bringing the disgraced man crashing hard onto the marble floor.
Julian placed his polished leather shoe firmly against the small of Arthur’s back, pinning him to the ground with casual, absolute authority.
“You broke security protocols, you breached private property, and you threatened women and children in my home,” Julian said, his voice terrifyingly quiet, carrying a depth of emotional tension that made the air itself seem to freeze. He leaned down slightly, looking at Arthur’s tear-streaked, bruised face pressed against the floor. “And worst of all, you raised your voice where my family rests.”
Arthur gasped for air, thrashing weakly beneath Julian’s foot. “Let me go… you can’t do this… I’ll sue you for assault…”
May you like
“Sue me?” Julian let out a cold, humorless laugh. “Arthur, the police downstairs are already holding a warrant for corporate embezzlement, grand larceny, and trespassing. By the time you see a courtroom, your assets will be liquidated, your company dissolved, and your name scrubbed from every registry in this state.”
Julian signaled toward the service door, where two private security officers in tactical suits stepped into the penthouse, nodding deferentially. “Take him out of my sight. And ensure he never comes within five miles of this property again.”
