Chapter 15: The Gift of Time

A year later, the flagship boutique on 5th Avenue remained a sanctuary of horological brilliance.

In the center of the showroom, beside the famous million-dollar *Aeterna Genesis*, a new permanent exhibition was unveiled.

Inside the illuminated glass pedestal stood Carter’s desk chronometer, accompanied by a small brass plaque that read:

> *"A second spent seeking validation is lost forever. A second spent creating value endures for generations."* > *— Vance & Hayes Community Workshop*

Carter now served as the Director of Youth Vocational Programs for the Vance Foundation. Every week, he guided young kids from underfunded neighborhoods, teaching them mechanics, precision assembly, and the dignity of manual labor.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, Julian walked into the boutique in his usual simple white T-shirt and faded blue jeans.

Carter was by the counter, explaining the mechanics of a vintage pocket watch to a young apprentice. When he saw Julian, Carter smiled—a warm, grounded grin of two brothers in craft.

Julian pulled out his father's watch, checking the time.

The hands swept forward in silent, uninterrupted harmony.
