A year later, the old Vance estate in the city was officially repurposed. Instead of standing as a monument to greed and arrogance, the grand mansion was converted into the *Eleanor & David Vance Pediatric Research Center*, funded entirely by the liquidated family assets.
On opening day, hundreds of doctors, researchers, and families gathered on the front lawn. The dark, imposing atmosphere of the old mansion was gone, replaced by bright windows, modern laboratories, and vibrant gardens.
Julian stood beside Claire and Emma at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. He wore a simple navy blazer, having long abandoned the stiff three-piece suits of his corporate past. He now worked as the administrative director of the non-profit clinic, ensuring that every breakthrough was made accessible to children regardless of their families' wealth.
Emma held a pair of large ceremonial scissors, looking up at her father with bright, proud eyes. "Are we ready, Daddy?"
Julian smiled, placing his hand over hers. "Whenever you are, sweetheart."
