Chapter 10: The Confession

At noon, Julian called an emergency press conference in the grand ballroom of the Vance headquarters in downtown Manhattan. Over fifty journalists and financial analysts packed the room, cameras flashing relentlessly against the backdrop of the corporate logo.
Julian walked to the podium alone, without a prepared speech or public relations advisors.
"For thirty years, the Vance Conglomerate has been celebrated as an American success story," Julian began, his voice steady, carrying an undeniable weight. "Today, I stand before you to tell the truth that my family spent decades hiding."
A murmur rippled through the room.
Julian placed the historical ledgers onto the lectern. "The foundational patents of our medical division were stolen by my late father, Arthur Vance. The rightful owners were ruined, and my mother, Eleanor Vance, was unlawfully institutionalized to keep this secret safe."
The room erupted into furious shouting, reporters jumping out of their seats to shout questions.
"Julian, are you stepping down?"
"Will the company declare bankruptcy?"
"Who owns the rights now?"

Julian raised his hand, commanding absolute silence. "I am dissolving the executive board. Every dollar of the Vance family trust will be liquidated into a restitution foundation managed independently to support families affected by rare pediatric diseases. We will right every wrong Arthur Vance committed."
