Chapter 11: The Federal Raid on the Estate

Within forty-five minutes, two unmarked black SUVs and a federal transport van intercepted the transport truck on the highway shoulder. Special Agent David Vance, a tall, broad-shouldered man in a federal tactical vest, stepped out into the rain and opened the passenger door of the semi-truck.
Seeing Alyssa huddled in the flannel jacket, her bruises visible in the flashing red and blue lights of the cruiser, his expression hardened into cold anger.
“You’re safe now, Alyssa,” David said gently, offering his hand to help her down from the cab. “Paramedics are in the lead vehicle. Let’s get you checked out.”
“I don’t need a medic, David. I need to go back,” Alyssa said, stepping down onto the wet asphalt and clutching the damp manila folder. “Julianna and Senator Vance are at the estate right now. If we wait until morning, they will purge the servers and flee the country.”
David studied her resolute expression for a moment, then nodded firmly. “Then we don’t wait. My strike team is already five miles out, moving to secure the perimeter of the Demarest mansion under a federal emergency warrant signed twenty minutes ago by a federal judge.”
Seated in the back of the federal SUV wrapped in a thermal blanket, Alyssa watched through the rain-streaked window as the convoy sped back toward the grand iron gates of her family estate. The dramatic limestone pillars loomed out of the dark woods, framed by the amber glow of security floodlights.
This time, the iron gates did not open gracefully for them. The lead tactical vehicle rammed through the automated gates with a deafening crash of twisted metal and shattered security sensors, tearing down the barrier that had kept Alyssa imprisoned for three agonizing years.
The convoy swept up the circular gravel driveway, scattering startled peacocks across the manicured lawns. Federal agents in full tactical gear poured out of the vehicles, securing the perimeter doors and sweeping the grand entrance hall before anyone inside could react.

Alyssa stepped out of the SUV, flanked by two armed federal marshals. The front double doors of the mansion were wide open. Bright interior lights spilled out onto the grand porch, illuminating the chaos inside as guests fled in panic and security guards were zip-tied and led away in handcuffs.
Stepping across the threshold into the grand foyer, Alyssa felt a profound sense of reclamation. The gilded cage was broken.
