Chapter 9: The Siege of the Library**
The riot began right after evening count during library detail. A fire alarm was pulled in the west wing, sending three smoke canisters down the hallway. Amid the confusion, Diaz and three armed thugs slipped into the library, locking the heavy fire doors behind them.
Arthur was stacking reference books when the door bolted. He turned to find Diaz grinning, flicking open a modified utility blade.
"End of the line, Judge," Diaz snarled. "Time to hand down your final sentence."
Before Diaz could step forward, the reinforced glass panel on the side door shattered in a blast of flying shards. Kane burst through like a battering ram, his forearm bleeding from glass cuts, his eyes burning with protective fury.
"Step away from him, Diaz!" Kane bellowed, stepping directly between the blades and the old man.
