Chapter 6: The Unforgiven Debt**

The revelation shattered Kane’s world. For two decades, Kane had blamed the world, the streets, and his own bad blood for his ruined life. But standing before him was the literal architect of his downfall—yet the man was not wearing black judicial robes; he was wearing the same drab prison cotton, scrubbing the same floors.

"Why are you here?" Kane choked out, slamming his fists against a dryer unit. "A federal judge doesn't end up in maximum security for parking tickets!"

"Because three years after I sent you away," Arthur replied, his voice breaking slightly, "my own son drove drunk and killed a young mother. I used my power, my connections, and my gavel to bury the evidence. I protected a killer because he was my blood."
