CHAPTER 11: The Truth in the Daylight

The morning sun broke through the coastal clouds, painting the Atlantic ocean in shades of deep sapphire and dazzling silver.
Victoria Sterling and Marcus Cole were escorted into waiting patrol cruisers, charged with commercial fraud, forgery, grand larceny, and breaking and entering. The media had gathered at the bottom of the hill, cameras flashing against the wet asphalt.
Arthur stood on the church porch, holding the certified birth and inheritance records in a pristine, waterproof folder.

Father Thomas walked out, handing Clara a small wooden cup of warm chamomile tea. “Your mother used to come here every Sunday, Clara. She never prayed for wealth or revenge. She only prayed that you would grow up to be kind.”
