Chapter 14: The Road Ahead

The thunder of a single motorcycle engine echoed down the open highway as the sun began to dip below the horizon. Jax pulled his bike over to the shoulder at the top of the ridge overlooking the valley.
Below lay the town—the bright lights of the new community center shining like a warm beacon against the dusk, the diner's neon sign glowing steadily in the distance.
Another vehicle pulled up behind him—Julian's sedan. Julian stepped out, walking over to stand beside the tall biker at the guardrail.
"Where are you heading?" Julian asked, looking out at the endless stretch of highway ahead.
"Just a run down the coast," Jax said, adjusting his leather gloves. "A few days. I'll be back before the framing on the clinic starts."
Julian nodded slowly. He reached out his hand. Jax looked down at it, then took it in a firm, solid grip—two men bound no longer by past secrets, but by a shared promise to a boy who had brought them both home.

"Take care of the kid while I'm out," Jax said softly.
"He's family," Julian replied simply. "He'll always have a home here."
