Chapter 11

Vance’s confident facade was a desperate performance, and Julian knew it. The security director leaned down slightly, planting both hands on the mahogany desk, bringing his face level with the lawyer’s.

“You can threaten lawsuits all you want, Marcus,” Julian said softly, his voice dangerously low. “But you forgot one fundamental rule of modern digital forensics: blockchains and encrypted servers don't forget, and they don't take bribes. We didn't just find your digital signature on the shell company accounts; we found the encrypted correspondence between you and Victoria detailing how you planned to frame Emily to cover up the missing four million dollars.”

Vance’s jaw tightened. He looked toward Mr. Sterling, seeking an ally, but the estate patriarch was staring at the folder on his desk with a look of profound, devastating heartbreak.

“Arthur, you cannot possibly believe these two disgruntled employees over thirty years of loyal service,” Vance pleaded, his voice losing its polished edge. “They are manipulating you. They want control of the estate.”

“I’ve trusted you with my family’s legacy, Marcus,” Mr. Sterling said quietly, his voice trembling slightly. He reached out with a shaking hand and opened the leather folder. Page after page of undeniable financial evidence lay before him—bank statements, wire receipts, and legal affidavits bearing Vance’s own seal. “And all this time, you were bleeding us dry, using my wife’s weaknesses as a smoke screen for your own theft.”

Vance realized the game was over. The mask slipped entirely, replaced by a cold, venomous glare. He closed his briefcase with a sharp snap. “You think locking me out or firing me solves anything, Arthur? Without my legal protection, your creditors will descend on this house like wolves within forty-eight hours. You’ll lose everything—the house, the land, the name.”

“Not everything,” Emily said, stepping forward. She met Vance’s angry gaze with absolute, unshakeable calm. “Because unlike you, we aren't trying to hide anything. The authorities were notified ten minutes before we walked into this room. Federal investigators are already reviewing the data packets we transmitted to the financial crimes division.”

Before Vance could respond, the heavy double doors opened again. Two federal agents in dark suits stepped silently into the study, flanked by the estate security officers.

“Marcus Vance?” the lead agent asked, holding up official identification. “You need to come with us.”

Vance looked around the room, realizing there was no escape. His expensive suit, his decades of high-society influence, and his carefully constructed empire of lies had collapsed into nothingness. Without a word of protest, he stood up, allowing the agents to place him in cuffs. As he was led past Emily, he paused, his eyes burning with hatred.

“You won't last a month in this world,” Vance whispered bitterly.

“I already survived it,” Emily replied softly.
