Chapter 4

Marcus Vance adjusted his gold-rimmed reading glasses, meticulously scanning the financial forensic sheets Clara had provided. Every transaction was cross-referenced with bank routing numbers, IP logs, and internal email approvals sent directly from Julian’s verified terminal. The evidence was staggering in its thoroughness. Marcus slowly closed the folder and looked up at his nephew, whose chest was heaving with frantic, shallow breaths.
"Security logs don't lie, Julian," Marcus said coldly. "Neither do bank audits. You attempted to hollow out the company's primary patent portfolio just two weeks before the acquisition deal with Apex Global. That isn't just a breach of contract; it’s a felony."
Julian gripped the edge of the mahogany table, his knuckles turning stark white. "Uncle Marcus, listen to me. If Apex pulls out because of this internal dispute, the company folds within the quarter. We need that merger. Clara is just trying to destroy everything we've built out of pure spite!"
"I am building my own future, Julian," Clara interjected calmly, turning her head to meet his desperate gaze. "And as for the legal consequences we discussed last night, David Chen filed the paperwork at precisely eight-thirty this morning. By standard corporate litigation statutes regarding executive malfeasance, a court-appointed receiver is entitled to immediate injunctive relief. That translates directly to fifty percent of your voting shares being frozen and transferred into a restitution escrow fund managed independently."
Elena stepped forward from the corner, her voice sharp with sudden panic. "You can't do that! That compromises the entire operational structure! Mr. Vance, surely you see that allowing a disgruntled ex-employee to dictate equity distribution will destroy investor confidence."

Marcus turned his cold, analytical gaze toward Elena, his eyes narrowing. "And who authorized your presence in this confidential executive meeting, Ms. Thorne? Your employment contract specifies operational support, yet your signature appears as a secondary witness on three of the illicit offshore transfers. Security will escort you to the ground floor immediately. Your credentials are revoked."
Two burly security guards stepped forward, flanking Elena. Her face drained of color as she realized she was being sacrificed to save Julian’s skin—only Julian was already past saving. She glared at Julian with undisguised betrayal before turning and walking out of the boardroom with stiff, humiliated dignity. Julian slumped back into his chair, the fight completely draining out of his posture as the magnitude of his total ruin settled over him. Clara gathered her documents, her movements deliberate and serene, leaving the boardroom without a single backward glance.
