Chapter 11: Unraveling the Network

The large wall display in the executive boardroom flickered, and a crystal-clear audio recording began to play over the high-end speakers. The voice of Victoria Sterling echoed through the silent room, sharp and demanding.
*""The old man is getting suspicious of the foundation's outflow,""* Victoria’s recorded voice said. *""If he insists on an independent audit, the offshore transfers will be exposed. We need to lock down the database access permissions immediately, Richard.""*
A second voice responded from the speakers—the unmistakable, cautious tone of Richard Vance.
*""I’ll restrict admin privileges on the secondary servers by midnight, Victoria. But if Arthur finds out about the diversion of the youth development funds, we are all exposed. You need to make sure he doesn't interfere with the restructuring vote.""*
*""I'll handle him,""* Victoria’s voice replied coldly on the recording. *""One way or another, he won't be at the podium tomorrow.""*
The audio cut off. The boardroom was dead silent. Every eye at the table shifted slowly from the screen to Richard Vance, who stood frozen behind his chair, his face completely drained of color. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. The evidence was absolute, direct, and undeniable.
Arthur looked at Richard with a profound sense of disappointment rather than anger. ""You were like a brother to me, Richard. You sat at my dining table, you watched my daughter grow up, and yet you helped her loot the very foundation built in my late wife's honor.""
Richard slumped back into his chair, his previous defiance completely shattered. He buried his face in his hands, realizing that no amount of legal maneuvering could save him from the weight of his own conspiracy.
Clara remained standing beside Arthur, her posture steady and unyielding. She tapped her tablet again, sending a secure transmission to the federal investigators waiting in the building lobby.

""Federal marshals are on their way up, Mr. Vance,"" Clara said quietly. ""You might want to save your explanations for them.""
Within minutes, the boardroom doors opened, and two federal agents entered, moving directly toward Richard Vance. Without a word of resistance, Richard stood up, placed his hands behind his back, and allowed the agents to escort him out of the room. The remaining board members sat in stunned silence, realizing that the old era of unchecked corporate privilege at Sterling Enterprises had officially come to an end.
