Chapter 7: The Eviction of the Mirage

In Miami, the collapse of Aura Luxe happened with terrifying speed.

Federal marshals and county sheriffs arrived at the Brickell condo at noon on a Tuesday, serving an emergency asset seizure warrant on the vehicles, accounts, and equipment tied to the fraudulent logistics venture.

Chloe stood in the hallway in a silk robe, watching as investigators boxed up designer bags, luxury watches, and company laptops purchased with diverted Vanguard funds.

""This is private property!"" Chloe screamed at the lead investigator. ""My father is a prominent real estate attorney in Palm Beach!""

""Your father’s firm was served with a third-party subpoena an hour ago, ma’am,"" the investigator replied without looking up. ""These assets were purchased with proceeds from stolen commercial credit lines. Step aside, please.""

Greg sat on the hallway stairs with a single duffel bag at his feet. His designer leather jacket had been seized as part of the asset audit. He wore an old grey t-shirt and jeans, his face hollow, his stubble unkempt.

Chloe turned on him, her eyes flashing with pure disgust. ""You pathetic loser. You dragged me into your pathetic little suburban scam! Get out of my building!""

""Your building?"" Greg gave a broken, bitter laugh. ""The lease was signed under Vanguard’s credit, Chloe. We’re both on the street.""

As the elevator doors opened, Greg picked up his duffel bag and walked inside alone, leaving Chloe screaming in the hallway behind him.
