Chapter 14: Justice Long Overdue

Agent Vance broke the silence, her voice ringing clear and authoritative through the office. "Marshal, escort Director Miller and his associates back to the lobby. If they take one more step toward these citizens, I will have them arrested for obstruction of justice and witness tampering."

Director Miller glared at Elena with venomous hatred, realizing that his corporate masters had lost control of the narrative. Elena let out a breath she felt she had been holding for days. Her knees trembled slightly, and she reached out to steady herself against the mahogany desk. Marcus placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"It's over," Marcus said softly. "They can't bury this anymore."

Agent Vance turned back to her computer terminal, where a notification confirmed that the raid warrants for St. Jude's Memorial Hospital had been successfully signed and transmitted to local enforcement agencies. "The board members are being detained as we speak. The truth is out."
Elena looked down at Leo, who had finally fallen into a peaceful, untroubled sleep wrapped in his gray blanket. The nightmare was over, and justice, though battered and hard-fought, had finally arrived.
