The Unbroken Beat

Clara rested her hand over Oliver’s chest, feeling the steady, powerful rhythm of his reconstructed heart beating through his soft cotton shirt:
Thump-thump... thump-thump... thump-thump.
It was the most beautiful sound in the universe—a rhythm that had defied cowardice, outrun neglect, and broken through the cold stone of a dynasty built on lies.
Oliver looked up at her, his big, sparkling hazel eyes catching the golden light of the dying sun. He reached up with his small, chubby hand, his fingers resting gently against Clara’s cheek.
"You know, Ollie," Clara whispered softly, kissing the tip of his nose. "Some people spend their whole lives trying to build houses so high that the real world can never touch them. But the only home that ever matters is the one built on truth, courage, and love that never looks away."
The sun dipped beneath the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking layers of lavender, rose, and deep indigo.
