"Clara," Dr. Chen said, stepping forward.

Clara stood up, holding her breath, her whole world suspended on a single syllable.

"The switch was completely successful," Dr. Chen announced. "The coronary transfers went smoothly, and his heart restarted on its own the moment we came off bypass. His oxygen saturation is one hundred percent on room air."

Clara buried her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking with silent, cleansing sobs. Arthur placed a supportive hand on her shoulder, while Maria smiled and whispered a quiet prayer of thanksgiving from the couch.

"Can I see him?" Clara whispered through her tears.

"He is in the recovery pod," Dr. Chen said. "He’s still intubated and sedated for the next twenty-four hours, but he is stable. Come."

The CICU pod was quiet, glowing with the soft blue and amber lights of advanced telemetry. Oliver lay in the center of the bed, a clean white dressing covering his sternum.

His cheeks were a bright, healthy rose. His chest moved with deep, effortless rhythm.

Clara sat beside the bed, gently resting her hand over his small forehead. She looked at the small scar beneath the bandages—not a mark of weakness, but an indelible badge of survival.

"You did it, Ollie," she whispered, kissing his soft, downy hair. "You have a whole heart now. And nobody will ever break it."
