Chapter 9 - A Viral Counter-Attack

Marcus swiped across the tablet screen, bringing up a rapidly growing digital video file that was already trending across multiple social media platforms within minutes of the cafe incident.
“She didn't accept the cancellation of her sponsorships lying down,” Marcus explained quickly, his fingers flying across the interface to queue up the audio. “Instead of posting a retraction or admitting her fault, she edited the live-stream footage. She cut out the entire first half where she verbally abused Mia and demanded her termination. She spliced together only the final moments—where Mr. Sterling stepped in and delivered the termination threat.”
Mia stepped closer to the desk, her eyes locked onto the tablet screen as Marcus pressed play.
The video began mid-sentence, framing Arthur’s stern, commanding voice out of context: “Your brand sponsorship is cancelled and you are banned from all of them forever.” The clip then cut to a heavily filtered, tearful video of the influencer recording herself inside her car, claiming she had been viciously harassed, stalked, and economically targeted by an arrogant billionaire simply for leaving a critical customer review about a dirty counter and a spilled drink.
The editing was malicious, manipulative, and expertly designed to trigger outrage among the online masses who knew nothing about the initial coffee spill or Mia’s calm professionalism. The comments section beneath the newly uploaded video was already moving at breakneck speed, with thousands of outraged netizens calling for a public boycott of all Sterling Group cafes, accusing the family of elitism, bullying, and abusing corporate power against an innocent digital creator.
“She’s playing the ultimate victim card,” Marcus said grimly, locking the tablet screen. “And because she removed the first half of the broadcast, her hundreds of thousands of followers are swallowing the fabricated narrative hook, line, and sinker. The PR department is already receiving death threats on the corporate hotline.”
Arthur sat in total silence, his eyes fixed on the mahogany desk. The rhythm of the rain outside seemed to amplify the sudden tension in the room. He did not look angry; instead, his face hardened into a mask of cold, calculating focus. He reached up, slowly stroking his gray beard as he processed the scope of the digital counter-attack.
“She thinks she can wage a PR war against the Sterling conglomerate using clipped footage and manufactured sympathy,” Arthur said quietly, each word measured and deliberate. “She underestimates how thoroughly we document our operations.”
Mia crossed her arms, her dark eyes flashing with quiet determination. “She left the security cameras running, Grandfather. Every single second of her tirade, from the moment she walked through that door to the moment she smashed her phone on the floor, is recorded in pristine high-definition audio and video by our internal security system.”

Arthur looked up, a sharp gleam of approval returning to his eyes. He turned his gaze back to the corporate attorney. “Marcus, pull the raw, unedited security footage from all four angles. Release the complete, unedited truth directly to the press and across every major digital network before the evening news cycle begins.”
