Chapter 10 - The Unedited Truth

The digital war room on the top floor of the Sterling Group headquarters was a hive of nervous energy, glowing monitors, and urgent phone calls. Marcus stood at the head of a long glass conference table, projecting the pristine, unedited security footage from the downtown cafe onto a massive curved screen that dominated the wall.
The raw video showed every excruciating detail: the blonde influencer shoving her phone into Mia’s face, the deliberate hostility in her voice, the spilled coffee exaggerated for dramatic effect, and her repeated demands for Mia to be fired immediately. There were no cuts, no filters, and no room for misinterpretation.
“The media packets have been distributed to every major news outlet, lifestyle blog, and investigative tech journalist in the tri-state area,” Marcus announced, tapping his keyboard to initiate the global upload. “Simultaneously, our legal team has filed a formal defamation and tortious interference lawsuit against her management agency, demanding a public retraction within four hours or face total asset seizure.”
Arthur sat at the center of the table, his heavy black coat draped over the back of his executive chair, his wooden cane resting securely against his knee. He watched the massive screen replay the influencer’s ugly snarls with calm, unwavering detachment.
“People in the digital age love outrage,” Arthur stated, his voice carrying an authoritative weight that silenced the murmuring junior executives in the room. “They consume anger like fast food, never pausing to check if the ingredients are poisoned. But when you present them with undeniable, unedited reality, the illusion collapses overnight.”
Downstairs in the downtown cafe, Mia had returned to her post behind the marble counter. The morning rush had faded into a quiet afternoon lull, but the atmosphere among the remaining patrons was noticeably different. Several regular customers who had witnessed the morning's chaos walked up to the counter, not to order coffee, but to offer quiet words of support and solidarity.
“We saw what she posted online, Mia,” an elderly regular said gently, resting his hand on the marble surface. “Don't let that dishonest creature get to you. You handled her with more class than she deserved.”
“Thank you,” Mia replied with a genuine, warm smile, sliding a fresh cup of espresso across the counter. “The truth has a way of sorting itself out, no matter how loud the noise gets online.”
True to her prediction, the digital tide began to turn with terrifying speed. Within two hours of the unedited security footage being released, the influencer’s fabricated victim narrative began to unravel. Independent tech analysts and digital sleuths on social media started picking apart her edited video, comparing it frame-by-frame with the Sterling Group's pristine security recording.
The internet, which had been ready to march against the billionaire conglomerate, instantly turned its ferocious wrath back onto the influencer. Her comment sections flooded with accusations of fraud, manipulation, and malicious deceit. Brands that had previously remained silent now publicly denounced her behavior, wiping any lingering association from their portfolios.

As the afternoon shadows lengthened across the downtown streets, Marcus stepped out of the war room elevator and walked rapidly toward Arthur’s office, his tablet flashing with a breaking notification that changed the entire landscape of the battle.
