Chapter 10: The First Day of School**

Six months passed, bringing the golden warmth of early autumn. The Glenn estate was no longer the cold, quiet mausoleum it had once been. Laughter echoed through the gardens, and the staff worked with pride and dignity, knowing they were respected and valued.

On a crisp Tuesday morning, Nora stood in the grand foyer wearing a brand-new navy uniform, polished black shoes, and a bright yellow backpack that bounced with every step. Today was her first day of kindergarten at St. Jude’s Preparatory Academy.

Elena knelt beside her, straightening the collar of her blouse. “Remember your manners, Nora. Listen to the teacher, and share your crayons.”

“I will, Mama!” Nora beamed. Then her eyes darted toward the grand staircase as Arthur walked down, dressed in his tailored suit.

“Are you ready for your big debut, young lady?” Arthur asked, adjusting his watch.

“Mr. Glenn, look!” Nora twirled around, showing off her backpack. “I have real scissors and three kinds of glue!”

Arthur laughed, a deep, relaxed sound. “Very impressive. Shall we take the car?”

Elena looked up, slightly flustered. “Mr. Glenn, you don’t have to drive us. You have a board meeting at nine.”

“The board can wait fifteen minutes,” Arthur said smoothly, opening the heavy front door. “A first day of school only happens once.”
