Chapter 13: The New Beginning**

On a bright Tuesday morning in May, Arthur held a formal press conference in front of the municipal courthouse. Over fifty reporters and television cameras gathered, expecting an announcement regarding Sterling Enterprises' new corporate acquisitions.
Instead, Arthur took the podium holding Lily’s hand on his right, and Clara’s hand on his left.
"For generations, the Sterling family name has been associated with financial power, private banking, and exclusive social status," Arthur spoke clearly into the bank of microphones. "We measured our strength by the height of our estate walls and the balance sheets of our corporations. But wealth without truth is an empty fortress."
He paused, looking down at Clara with profound respect.
"Today, I am announcing the dissolution of the Sterling Foundation’s private offshore holdings. In its place, we are establishing the Eleanor & Clara Higgins Foundation for Endangered Children—an international non-profit dedicated to providing legal aid, medical screening, and shelter for children and domestic guardians trapped in abusive or dangerous environments."
The flashbulbs erupted in a storm of white light. Questions were shouted from every direction, but Arthur did not field them. He stepped down from the podium, hoisted Lily onto his shoulders, and walked side-by-side with Clara toward their car.
