Chapter 13: The Final Ledger

The heavy titanium flash drive caught the dim ambient light of the penthouse, gleaming like a small tombstone for Victor Vance’s criminal empire. Victor pinned against the cracked floor-to-ceiling glass by Thomas’s massive forearm, choked for air, his expensive charcoal suit wrinkled and stained with spilled whiskey. Outside the fractured window, the gray Seattle fog swirled endlessly around the tower, cutting them off from the rest of the world. Victor’s eyes darted frantically between Thomas’s scarred, menacing glare and the cold, unblinking gaze of his nine-year-old niece.
"You're a fool," Victor wheezed, blood trickling from a small cut on his lip where he had hit the marble floor. "If you upload that drive, you bring down the entire syndicate. You destroy the very empire your father spent his whole life building!" Lily stepped closer, her expression completely untouched by his desperate plea. She didn't raise her voice; every word carried the weight of an executioner's verdict. "My father built a brotherhood, Victor. You built a cartel of thieves and murderers. He didn't want an empire built on ashes; he wanted honor."
Lily turned around, walking over to Victor’s sleek, minimalist mahogany desk where a secure terminal sat connected to the global network. She pulled off her glove, pressed the silver wolf ring against the terminal's biometric scanner, and inserted the titanium flash drive into the primary port. A holographic data stream instantly flooded the screen—thousands of encrypted files, international bank transfers, wiretaps of bribes paid to politicians, and the exact logistical manifests of the Portland warehouse fire. The automated system began instantly transmitting the entire archive simultaneously to the federal strike force, investigative journalists, and every regional Vulture charter across the country.
"No! Stop it!" Victor screamed, struggling furiously against Thomas’s grip, but the big biker only pressed harder, pinning him tighter against the groaning glass. "You're destroying everything! You're signing your own death warrant!" Lily didn't even look back at him. She watched the progress bar on the screen tick upward: 45 percent... 70 percent... 90 percent... 100 percent. Complete transmission. The digital architecture of Victor’s empire had just been completely dismantled in less than thirty seconds, broadcasted irreversibly across the entire nation.

Victor slumped downward, his legs giving out beneath him as the realization of total, absolute defeat finally settled over him. He wasn't just losing his money or his territory; he was losing his freedom, his legacy, and his life. Thomas hauled him up by the lapels of his ruined suit, dragging him away from the cracked window and throwing him hard onto the marble floor at Lily’s feet. Lily looked down at her uncle, her dark eyes reflecting no triumph, only the quiet, heavy closure of a blood debt finally settled.
