Chapter 1 - The Shattered Foundation

The crystal chandelier above cast fractured prisms across the ruined hardwood floor. White balloons drifted lazily against the baseboards, mocking the disaster below. Six-year-old Lily clutched the hem of her light pink party dress, her small shoulders shaking as quiet sobs escaped her. Her long blonde hair, adorned with matching pink bows, was dusted with white frosting. She looked up at her father, Julian, her tear-filled eyes wide with absolute rejection.

“Daddy,” Lily whimpered, her voice trembling in the vast, silent room. “She said I don't belong.”

Julian’s heart shattered into a thousand jagged pieces. He dropped to his knees, ignoring the expensive black tuxedo he wore, and swept his daughter into his arms. He pulled her tightly against his chest, burying his face in her blonde hair. The surrounding crowd of high-society guests murmured among themselves, shifting uncomfortably under the sudden tension. Julian stood up, his jaw clenched so hard a muscle twitched violently in his cheek. He spun around to face Evelyn, the woman in red, who stood near the ruined table looking utterly unfazed by the devastation.

Julian stared at her, his voice a lethal, suppressed whisper.

“What did you do?”

Evelyn offered a slow, chilling smirk, her crimson lips parting with practiced cruelty.

“A little lesson,” she replied, her tone dripping with casual condescension.

Julian opened his mouth to unleash a torrent of fury, but before a single word could escape, a sharp, mechanical chime echoed from deep within his breast pocket, signaling an urgent, encrypted alert.
