Chapter 3 - The Corporate Coup

Julian pulled his sleek, brushed-aluminum smartphone from his breast pocket with shaking fingers, his thumb flying across the biometric unlock sensor. The screen blinked awake to reveal an urgent notification from the Delaware Secretary of State: Corporate Control Reassignment. The primary voting shares of Venture Holdings LLC—the corporate entity that owned the land beneath their feet, the cars in the driveway, and every bank account bearing Julian's signature—had just been legally transferred to a shell corporation registered in the Cayman Islands under Eleanor’s maiden name.
"This is impossible," Julian breathed, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "I am the managing director. I signed the foundational bylaws myself."
Eleanor walked slowly toward him, her black suit rustling like the wings of a predatory bird, radiating an aura of total, inescapable dominance.
"You signed the operating agreement during our third anniversary dinner, Julian, right after the champagne and the notary public I hired as a thoughtful gift for your business expansion," Eleanor said, her tone dripping with mock sweetness. "Section twelve, paragraph four explicitly states that in the event of a perceived mental health crisis or documented domestic instability, voting rights automatically revert to the primary domestic administrator."
Maya stepped away from Julian, her young eyes wide with a terrifying maturity as she looked at the woman she had been forced to call a guardian for the past three years.
"You tricked him," Maya said simply, her voice devoid of childhood cadence, sounding more like an investigator laying out a final case file.
Eleanor didn’t bother looking down at the little girl; her gaze remained fixed on Julian, relishing the visible erosion of his authority within his own dining room.
"I didn't trick anyone, child. I simply anticipated the day your sentimental father would try to prioritize a stray inheritance over the survival of our actual family," Eleanor replied sharply.
Julian slammed his hand down onto the mahogany table, rattling the crystal glasses and causing the children at the other end to cower in sudden fear.
"You stole from an orphan! You manipulated legal documents while pretending to build a home!" Julian shouted, taking a menacing step toward his wife.
Before Julian could close the distance between them, the heavy oak doors at the main entrance of the dining room swung wide open with a resounding bang, revealing three armed private security guards in black tactical gear flanking a tall, unfamiliar man in a charcoal suit.

"Mr. Vance, I’m Agent Miller," the man said calmly, flashing a gold badge before stepping into the room. "You and your ward are in immediate violation of a federal asset seizure order."
