Chapter 8 - The Master Suite Secret

The words hung in the air like a lethal gas, suffocating the remaining oxygen in the opulent dining room. Julian stared at Uncle Arthur, his mind struggling to bridge the chasm between the ghost he had mourned for twelve years and the reality of his brother sitting just floors above them. Marcus peeked out from behind the mahogany chairs, wide-eyed and terrified, while the three small children continued to tremble near the shattered entryway. The two tactical guards stood motionless like obsidian statues, their weapons still aimed in a silent threat.

"You kept him upstairs this entire time?" Julian whispered, his voice cracking with a mix of horror and profound betrayal. "While I lived in this house, while I worked myself to the bone believing I was the last of our family?"

"David lacked your ambition, Julian," Arthur said smoothly, leaning heavily on his obsidian cane as he took another slow step toward the table. "He wanted to confess everything to the SEC. He wanted to throw away the fortune we spent decades building. So, we gave him a comfortable cage. And when Elena here married you to keep an eye on our investments, she discovered the truth within her first week."

Elena stepped forward, placing herself between Julian and the old man. "I tried to help him escape three years ago, Arthur. That's why you held my brother hostage. That's why these three orphans were brought to my door—to remind me what happens when I step out of line."

Arthur sighed, a sound of profound disappointment. "Such a waste of good talent. You could have lived like royalty for the rest of your days, Elena. But women always let their emotions interfere with business."

Julian didn't wait for Arthur to finish. Ignoring the tactical guards, he lunged forward with explosive speed, grabbing Arthur by the lapels of his expensive overcoat and slamming him back against the marble pillar. The old man’s cane clattered loudly against the floor, rolling away into the shadows. The guards instantly raised their weapons, pressing the cold steel barrels against Julian’s temples, but Julian didn't flinch. His eyes burned with an intense, murderous fury as he stared down into Arthur’s unblinking eyes.

"Take me to him," Julian hissed, his voice vibrating with suppressed violence. "Take me to my brother right now, or I swear to God I will break your neck before your men can pull their triggers."

Arthur didn't panic. He didn't even blink. A slow, terrifying smile spread across his wrinkled face as he looked past Julian’s shoulder toward the grand staircase leading to the upper floor.

"You don't need me to take you, Julian," Arthur rasped, chuckling softly. "Look behind you. He came down to greet you himself."

Julian slowly turned his head, releasing his grip on Arthur’s coat, and froze in absolute horror as a gaunt, broken figure stepped out from the shadows of the grand staircase.
